In 2022, turnover generated by German carpentry and timber construction companies is expected to increase by 5.5% vis à vis the preceding year to €10.246bn. For 2021, according to the mix model used by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) which combines data for companies with 20 or more employees recorded by Destatis with data for companies with less than 20 employees, generated using data supplied by the tax authorities (turnover) and the Federal Employment Agency (employment), turnover was extrapolated to €9.712bn. According to the 2022 status report published on 20 May by the Verband Holzbau Deutschland approximately 25% of the increase will ensue from additional work and 75% from price increases. In 2020, an increase of 15.3% had been recorded; additional work had still contributed two-thirds to this figure and price increases for timber construction products one-third.
