German output of pallets and box pallets grew by 7.3%

26.04.2018 −

The member businesses of the industry association HPE produced roughly 110.4m wooden pallets in the business year 2017; this equates to growth of 7.3% on last year and is a new record high. Germany’s pallet output has been rising continuously from year to year since 2012, the 100-m pallet mark having first been exceeded in 2016.

According to Marcus Kirschner, new director of HPE federation since 1 April, greater demand for load carriers and wooden packaging both in Germany and, increasingly, abroad has led to higher production volumes on the strength of favourable economic environment. HPE data shows that although the production value for pallets rose by 5.3 % to 810.5m €, it gives rise to a slight decline of 1.9 % in the constructed average price per pallet to 7.34 € (7.48 €).
