Lindbäcks Bygg, one of the biggest Swedish manufacturers of wood-construction apartments and multi-storey blocks, will build a new plant in Haraholmen in the port of Piteå for the production of wall, ceiling and floor elements by 2017. The company reports that the investment sum totals roughly SKR350m. The output of the new plant, for which the foundation stone was laid at the end of February, is to be roughly 2,400 m² of living space per week and therefore roughly double that of existing production. According to Lindbäcks, the future work force at the plant will number roughly 150. The company explains its investment decision with increasing demand in recent years for industrially produced, prefabricated wood-construction apartments and multi-storey blocks in Sweden and neighbouring Scandinavian countries, demand which will probably rise even further in the coming years.
