German Pellets, is conducting a phased expansion of its pellets trading business and to that end for the first time unloaded a Handysize bulk-goods freighter carrying almost 20,000 t of wood pellets from a pellet plant on the East coast of Canada. The pellets have been put into intermediate storage in Wismar and from there will be delivered to clients in Europe. According to company spokeswoman Claudia Röhr, pellet trading is to be expanded further in view of the rising demand for wood pellets across the whole of Europe. A central role will be played by the port location in Wismar as a transhipment site
