In the first quarter, Sonae Industria SGPS again showed significant improvement in its profit situation, both quarter on quarter and year on year. Although consolidated turnover generated by continued operations, at €258m, declined again year on year by 2.6%, the €241m achieved in the fourth quarter of 2014 was exceeded by 7.1%. The business divisions Southern Europe and Northern Europe were primarily responsible for the positive trend. Sales volumes were down year on year by roughly 3%, mainly on account of weaker OSB business, while average selling prices were up by 3.6%. Variable costs per cubic metre showed a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%, primarily attributable to lower costs for chemicals.
