Metsä Group officially put its new birch plywood works in Pärnu, Estonia, into operation on 27 August, having previously performed various test runs and quality checks. Plywood production currently runs five days per week in three shifts. Following twelve new recruitments in September, the works meanwhile has 87 employees. In connection with the planned relocation of the finishing activities from Soulahti in Finland to Pärnu, another 30 employees will probably be recruited at the end of 2019. The number of employees is to rise to a total of around 200 in future.
