The Chilean wood-based panels manufacturer Masisa intends in the coming years to invest roughly US$120m in setting up its own production sites in Peru and Columbia, according to reports from various South American business newspapers. The company has until now only been represented in those countries with sales branches („Placacentros“). According to unconfirmed information, Masisa is also negotiating a participation in the Mexican particleboard manufacturer Rexcel. Among the company‘s operations are two particleboard plants in Zitacuaro and Chihuahua and laminate and worktop production in Lerma through Toluca Rexcel.
