LP’s Peace Valley plant produces first board

As of the end of June, Louisiana-Pacific has recommissioned the plant in Fort St. John (British Columbia) operated under the name Peace Valley. According to the business report published on 3 August, the plant, which had been shut down since mid-2019, has meanwhile produced the first board. According to earlier information, the plant is expected to reach its full capacity of 800m sqft by the second quarter of 2022.

In the current period, the OSB business division of Louisiana-Pacific sold a total of 884m sqft basis 3/8’’. The comparative figure, which had been burdened by corona-related shutdowns, was exceeded by 8%. As in previous quarters, deliveries of higher-quality OSB ranges consolidated under the name structural solutions (+19% to 403m sqft) developed along better lines than business with standard boards which remained stable vis à vis the previous year at 481m sqft (480m sqft). Taking into account a further increase in average prices, turnover of the business division almost quadrupled to US$778m. The effect on turnover resulting from higher prices was indicated at US$554m. Despite higher raw material costs, the adjusted EBITDA rose to US$565m.
