On 1 October, the Canadian firm Kaycan completed its take-over of Pfleiderer’s North American wood-based panels activities, pooled in Uniboard Canada. Uniboard presently employs some 800 workers at four sites located in Val-d’Or, Sayabec, Mont Laurier and Laval, all in Quebec. The closing of this all-cash-for-shares deal allows the siding producer Kaycan to expand its range of products to include decorative interior applications. The company presently makes siding and other building products made out of vinyl, aluminium and engineered wood at eleven North American locations. Kaycan has a staff of 1,200 workers.
