Munksjö Decor: Second-best quarter since start of 2012

In the second quarter of 2014 the Decor division at Munksjö again showed year-on-year improvement in key figures, though there was a slight weakening of the trend in turnover and results compared to figures achieved in the first quarter. Sales of decor papers were up year on year by 0.4% to 46,100 t, falling minimally short of the 46,400 t reached in the first quarter. The slight decline in volume was partially attributed by Munksjö to the shutdown measures over the Easter and Whitsun periods which had already been scheduled a long time ago, as had the pending summer shutdowns. Quarterly turnover showed year-on-year growth of 0.9% to €96.4m. In contrast to the situation for the whole of 2013 and to that in the first quarter, turnover has therefore for the first time again shown a better trend than shipments. Munksjö reports that the backdrop to this is the increase in average prices achieved through year-on-year shifts in the regional and product mix. In contrast, average prices in the whole of 2013 and in the first quarter of 2014 had in each case shown slight decline. At €97.5m, turnover was nevertheless slightly higher in the first quarter.
