On 3 September Josef Vojácek was appointed by the Czech Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Toman as the new general director of the state forest enterprise Lesy Ceské republiky (Lesy CR). Vojácek, who prevailed against ten candidates in an application procedure, succeeds Tomáš Pospíšil, who has headed Lesy CR on an interim basis since 14 May. On 11 May, Daniel Szórád, then general director, was dismissed from his post as general director. His dismissal was justified by the fact that the state forestry company, under his leadership, had not processed calamity wood caused by bark beetles and storm events quickly enough.
Since 2014 Vojácek has managed the forestry operation of the Czech military administration as general director. Previously he had worked for Lesy CR in various positions.
