Spruce sawlogs leave Norway for Sauerland in Germany

03.12.2021 −

Viken Skog dispatched a first shipload of spruce sawlogs to sawmills in the Sauerland region of Germany in mid-November. The delivery of approximately 4,700 m³ originates from the region of Vestfold and was handled through the port of Larvik. Viken AT Market, Viken Skog’s export company, was responsible for the logistics. The “MS Norheim” of the Norwegian shipping company Arriva Shipping sailed into the Dutch port of Beverwijk where the logs were loaded onto barges and then carried or shunted up the Rhine and the Dortmund-Ems canal to Dortmund within two days.
