Swedish Valbo Trä takes over Setra location Skutskär

The Swedish planed goods producer Valbo Trä will take over Setra's sawmill and planing mill site in Skutskär on 15 May. Valbo Trä will continue to employ the 33 employees of the Skutskär plant, which has a production capacity of 115,000 m³ of surface-treated planed timber per year. No information was provided on the purchase price.

Both Valbo Trä and Skutskär mainly supply customers from the Swedish building materials trade. As the customer base of the two Valbo Trä plants in Valbo/ Gävle province and in Edsbyn/ Söderhamn province overlaps to a large extent with that of Skutskär/ Uppsala province, CEO-Mikael Helmersson expects significant synergy effects. According to Setra CEO Hannele Arvonen, the range of planed products produced at the Skutskär site is no longer part of the Group's core business. The proceeds from the sale will be invested in the cross laminated timber (CLT) plant under construction at the Långshyttan site and in the modernisation and expansion of the planing plant at Hasselfors.
