By the end of January, pellet producers, pulp producers, and the trade managed to conclude the bulk of the negotiations on deliveries of sawmill residues in the first quarter of 2013, some of which have been underway since the middle of December. Negotiations with the wood-based panel industry, on the other hand, are dragging on due to what buyers consider to be inflated asking prices from sawmill-residue suppliers. Here, various chipboard and MDF/HDF manufacturers have made it clear that with the current level of asking prices, they intend to continue to reduce their intake of sawmill residues to the benefit of other assortments.
