RMK roundwood sales remain stable in 2014

Estonian state forest administration RMK achieved almost the same sales volumes in 2014 as in the preceding year with roundwood sales to the amount of 3.2m m³. Furthermore, 140,000m³ wood chips from the forest were sold. Sales of roundwood standing were not recorded separately for 2014. €151m, or 7.9% more than in the previous year, was generated from roundwood sales. The state forest administration generated 5.6% more than in 2013 overall at €163.5m. According to Aigar Kallas, chairman of the RMK supervisory board, the improvement in results is primarily due to the higher quality of the roundwood sold compared to the previous year. Additionally, it was possible to expand sales of smaller-diameter roundwood to the sawmill industry as the machinery in the sawmill industry is increasingly geared to processing of thinner roundwood.
