Polish sawnwood production reduced by 6% in March

Polish sawmills’ sawn-softwood output in March 2022 was 6% lower than a year earlier at 275,000 m³. According to information from the Polish statistics office in Warsaw, production was stable in February (237,000 m³) after a reduction of 5% had been registered in January (221,000 m³).

Cumulated over the first three months, the output was 3% lower than at the same time last year at 733,000 m³. The reduction perpetuated the inconsistent development of the last few years. In the first quarter of 2019, the output had reached the highest level ever recorded at 758,000 m³. After a reduction in the first quarter of 2020 (-8% to 696,000 m³), an increase of 9% was registered the following year at 756,000 m³. At 3.310m m³ (2020: 2.821m m³), the output in 2021 as a whole was 6% higher than the year before.
