Normality restored to transport and supply situation in Africa in the last few weeks

According to information from the European import trade, the problems that arose in log felling and transport out of forests as well as in transporting lumber to ports caused by the rainy season in a variety of African countries in September and October have generally been weathered out in most regions in recent weeks. The delays typical for the time of year and taken into account by the trade have thus only been exceeded in scattered instances. Most African sawmills meanwhile have better logs supplies again or are in the process of replenishing their log stocks. The supply of African lumber is therefore generally adequate for satisfying the relatively slack demand. Various close-grained hardwoods, especially ovengkol and bubinga, which are difficult to obtain and for which scarcely any regular delivery times can be given, remain exceptions.
