Moelven’s results still much better than previous year

The divisions of Moelven Industrier achieved better key performance figures than a year earlier in the fourth quarter as well. The growth turned out to be less pronounced than in the preceding third quarter, however. The quarterly report published on 2 February shows that the weakening is due above all to lower prices for sawnwood, planed goods, and sawmill residues whereas the production costs were up partly as a result of higher roundwood prices. In the “Building Systems” division, the “System Interiors” subdivision’s business had already been unsatisfactory previously. In view of this, the interior-finishing company trading under the name of Moelven Modus was sold to Mimir Capital at the beginning of October.

EBITDA and the operating result of the “Timber” rose several times over to NOK596m and NOK574m, respectively. The division achieved growth of 53% in sales revenue to NOK1.459bn. The planed goods division “Wood” generated sales revenue of NOK1.207bn, an increase of 12%. EBITDA and the operating result rose by 64% and 79%, respectively, to NOK224m and NOK193m. Building Systems generated sales revenue of NOK1.025bn, 9% more than the year before. EBITDA halved to NOK26m. The operating result slumped by 77% to NOK6m.
At the group level, revenue from sales in the fourth quarter rose by 19% to NOK3.590bn. EBITDA (+153% to NOK832m), the operating result (+224% to NOK745m), pre-tax profit (+183% to NOK749m), and net profit (+184% to NOK586m) all rose sharply. The key performance figures for the year as a whole were also significantly higher than the figure for the previous year.
