Linck supplying chipping line for Onega sawmill in Russia

Onega LDK, part of Segezha Group, is being comprehensively updated and extended in two stages over the next two and a half years at a cost of approximately RUB5.5bn (roughly equivalent to €62m). According to a release issued by Segezha, a chipping line supplied by Linck is being installed for this purpose with an annual cutting capacity of 550,000 m³ of roundwood. The annual production capacity will be 20% higher than the existing plant at 280,000 m³ of sawn softwood. The first delivery of components is scheduled for August 2022. Jartek is supplying the sorting system for freshly cut and kiln-dried sawn softwood. The correspondingly contracts were concluded recently. Contracts for installing a new roundwood feeder and facilities for disposing of residual wood are currently out for tender.

Construction of a pellet plant with an annual production capacity of 30,000 t is planned at the facility in a second development stage. At the presentation of the plans for extending Onega by president and chairman of the board Mikhail Shamolin in January, a pellet works was mentioned with a possible annual output of 60,000 t. The announcement was preceded by a feasibility study by the Segezha engineering company Giprobum of St. Petersburg. Giprobum is one of the oldest companies in Russia specialised in planning papermills.
