Keitele to undergo extensive modernisation work

Keitele Timber is installing a new powerplant and a new cutting line at its Keitele sawmill this year. As part of a replacement-investment project, Veisto will be installing a HewSaw SL250 2.2 sawmilling line in August/September 2022. The new line replaces an existing Veisto plant. According to Matti Kylävainio, director of sawmill operations, the works’ annual production capacity will increase from the present 430,000 m³ to at least 500.000 m³ in future (two-shift operation in a five-day week).

The replacement investment is part of a major modernisation programme for the facility. The group had already concluded a contracts with KPA Unico in October. The contracts provides for the construction of a new heat and power-supply system for the facility for this year. The delivery covers a 15 MW boiler, which will replace the existing 7.5-MW fluidised bed boiler from 1994.
