Juodeliai to invest €40m in new sawmill

The Lithuanian sawmill company Juodeliai is investing €40m in the construction of a new sawmill in Marijampole. According to Juodeliai, the core of the new plant will be a Linck chipping line designed for a production capacity of around 460,000 m³ of sawn timber per year. Juodeliai has not yet announced the suppliers of the remaining plant components.

The sawmill will be built on a 20 ha site adjacent to the Marijampole free trade zone and the production halls should be completed by the end of 2019. Commissioning is scheduled for September 2020. Juodeliai will become the second largest manufacturer of pallet boards in Europe with the new production site, which will employ around 100 people. Sales are expected to more than double to €110m compared to 2018.
