With the takeover of Keadle Lumber the Canadian company Interfor will acquire another US-American lumber manufacturer. The two companies agreed the deal on 15 May. The transaction has still to be approved by the competition authorities and is to be completed by the end of the second quarter. Keadle Lumber currently produces roughly 80m bdft of southern-yellow-pine lumber per year in single-shift operations. Interfor plans to double the production volume to roughly 160m bdft/year by introducing a second shift and intends to install additional drying capacity at the site. With the takeover of Keadle, Interfor is continuing its strategy of expansion in south-eastern USA and at the same time focussing on Georgia.
