Holzwerke Gmach filed for insolvency proceedings before Regensburg district court on 5 April 2012. Dr Harald Schwartz, specialised in insolvency law, has been appointed provisional administrator. Following an initial assessment, Schwartz attributes the financial difficulties of the company, specialised in the product sectors of lumber, planed products, and gluelam board, partly to the persistently difficult market environment and partly to the consequences of the fire that had broken out on 8 March 2009. Gmach had installed a new planing system in board hall 2 to replace the two planing lines destroyed by the fire.
