Fire at Ransby sawmill damaged sorting plant

The sawmill Ransby of the Swedish Moelven Notnäs Ransby AB, which belongs to the Norwegian Moelven Industrier, already suffered a fire in the night of 23 November 2018 in the sawn timber sorting area. The fire broke out during the downtime and could not be extinguished until the following day. It was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighbouring saw hall. The sorting plant was severely damaged. Until the plant is repaired, the sawn timber sorting will be carried out in the sawmill Torsby, which is also assigned to Moelven Notnäs.

The Torsby site is designed for a production capacity of 225,000 m³ of sawn softwood per year, the Ransby sawmill has a capacity of 80,000 m³ of sawn softwood per year.
