Canfor was able to conclude the acquisition of Anthony Forest Products Company (AFP) at the end of October after having announced the move roughly four weeks earlier. The takeover covers a southern yellow pine sawmill in Urbana, Arkansas, with a capacity of approximately 250m bdft per year and two gluelam beam works in El Dorado, Arkansas, and Washington, Georgia, with a combined annual output of up to 75m bdft. Also included in the deal are two plants for an annual output of around 800,000 t of woodchips in North Plain Dealing, Louisiana, and in Troup, Texas, as well as AFP’s 50% share in Eacom, an I-joist manufacturer based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
