Temporary lay-offs at Raute have started

Finnish Raute scaled back the number of people working at its Nastola headquarters with effect from 1 September. The firm had previously wrapped up talks that began in early August about temporary lay-offs. Raute said that these actions, which affect up to 157 workers, are connected to a weaker order cushion and its ramifications for operations and its financial situation. Raute’s order backlog has been almost halved from its peak of €142m at the end of March 2018 to €72m at the end of June 2019.

The amount and timing of lay-offs will be determined according to the development of the order book and workload. These lay-offs may last up to a maximum of 90 days until the market situation improves.
