Södra Wood improves its key performance figures

05.08.2017 −

Södra Wood generated positive key performance figures again in the second quarter. According to the quarterly report published on 18 July, EBITDA and the operating result improved to SEK96m and SEK50m respectively. The division’s sales revenue fell by 8.7% to SEK1.600bn, however; SEK1.441bn of this (-10.9 %) was earned from sales to external customers. The reduced sales volume arising from the restructuring measures and closures in 2015/2016 were only partly compensated for by higher timber prices.

The “Södra Skog” division generated sales revenue of SEK2.481bn from April to June, 4.1% more than in the same quarter of last year. EBITDA remained unchanged at SEK47m whereas the operating result increased 2.8% to SEK37m. Södra Skog handled 3.9m m³ of logs; 57% of which was accounted for by industrial wood and woodchips, 34% by sawlogs, and 9% by fuelwood.

At the group level, sales revenue increased 5.9% to SEK5.244bn and EBITDA doubled to SEK776m. The operating and net results increased several times over to SEK464m and SEK395m respectively. According to information from president and CEO Lars Idermark, all divisions contributed to the improvement in results due to higher selling prices and the implementation of restructuring measures.
