LHG commences handling at forestry products terminal

10.01.2020 −

Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG) has commissioned its new forestry products terminal (FPTSK) at the Travemünder Skandinavienkai. According to the port operator, the handling volumes are now being continuously increased in order to test the operational processes. The terminal is to be officially inaugurated at the end of January. The Hanseatic City of Lübeck, Lübeck Port Authority Division, completed the facility in mid-November and handed it over to the LHG.

The terminal consists of a 25,000m² multi-purpose building and a 5,000m² ferry hall. According to LHG, the facility also includes 70,000m² of paved area. The multifunctional logistics building is 300m long and can hold up to 35,000t of forest products. Six gates on each long side ensure that LHG can store and reload there quickly, according to the company. Wide roof overhangs are intended to provide weather protection.
