High reference values push order intake into minus

According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the seasonally, working day and price-adjusted order intake in the construction industry in June was €7.4bn, 4.3% lower than in the previous month. However, the statisticians attribute this downward trend mainly to the above-average order intake in the previous month of May. Irrespective of this, a higher order intake was recorded in companies with 20 or more employees for one June 23 years ago (1995: €7.6 billion).

Compared to the first quarter, new orders from April to June were 3.9% lower than in the same period last year. This decrease is due to the exceptionally high order intake in January and February. In the first half of 2018, order intake in the construction industry rose by 2.8 % year-on-year.
