Swedish furniture exports decrease by 5%

In the third quarter, the value of Swedish furniture exports declined by 5% vis à vis the preceding year to SEK4.580bn. According to figures published by the Swedish statistics authority Statistika Centralbyrån, deliveries to Norway decreased by 9% to SEK1.359bn and by one percentage point to a proportion of 30% of total exports.

Accumulated over the first nine months, the value of exports - at SEK13.366bn - also fell 5% short of the preceding year’s figure. Of this figure, furniture at a value of SEK7.756bn was delivered to EU countries including Great Britain; as a proportion of total exports, this remains unchanged at 58%. Exports to other European countries outside of the EU also declined by 5% to SEK4.534bn.
In the first nine months, exports increased by 6% vis à vis the figure of SEK12.579bn recorded for the comparative period in 2018. Between 2010 (SEK11.189bn) and 2018 a consistent increase in exports had been recorded. Only in 2013 and 2014 did the value fall back under the SEK11bn mark.
