First decline in orders for US furniture industry

In September incoming orders of US furniture manufacturers focussed on the residential area declined by 10% to US$2.343bn. According to the economic activity report published on a monthly basis by Smith Leonard, this was the first decline to be recorded so far this year. The positive development in turnover recorded so far in the current year, on the contrary, continued in September with an increase of 4% to US$2.365bn.

Accumulated over the first nine months, turnover increased by 5% to US$20.674bn and incoming orders by 4% to US$20.442bn.
