Sales up in Steinhoff’s “Household goods” division

Sales revenue generated by the “Household goods” division of Steinhoff International Holdings, which covers retail business in household goods and furniture, rose by 11.2% in the first nine months of the business year 2015/2016 (30 June) to €6.432bn. Growth of 18.8% had been achieved in the first half of the business year. €4.957bn of 77% of the division’s sales revenue was generated in Europe. This equates to growth of 5.4% on the same period of last year. The Kika/Leiner group, integrated into the company in December 2015, contributed €311m to the division’s sales revenue; sales growth of 8% would have been achieved in Europe without Kika/Leiner. Sales revenue generated by the French Conforama developed positively in all of the individual markets but particularly in France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Even double-figure percentage growth was achieved in the Spain/Portugal region. Conforama’s sales revenue in Switzerland, however, was only marginally higher than last year’s figure. In the UK and the “Australasia” region, the division’s sales revenue rose by 14.1% to €844m. In Africa, on the other hand, the figure fell by 15.8% to €631m.
