Italian furniture exports up 21% year-on-year

By the end of March, the total value of Italian furniture exports amounted to €3.028bn. This corresponds to an increase of approximately one-fifth vis à vis the comparative quarter of the preceding year, according to data recorded by Eurostat. In addition to growth in main sales market France (+9% to €539.6m), a considerable increase of 29% to €385.4m was recorded concerning deliveries to the USA. Exports to Germany also increased significantly, up 19% to €307.7m. Growth had already been achieved in all three markets in the comparative quarter of the preceding year. Furniture deliveries to Russia also rose again in the first quarter, up 4% to €70.0m. For 2021 as a whole, an increase of 12% had been recorded in this market. Thus, the proportion of total Italian furniture exports attributable to Russia amounted to 3%.

Italian furniture imports increased even more significantly than exports in the first quarter, at +42% to €908.7m. Especially strong growth was recorded for China (+62% to €319.2m) and Germany (+36% to €113.2m). Concerning imports from France, at €56.8m, the value almost doubled.
