Turnover of the German furniture manufacturers declined by 8.1% compared with the preceding year in May to €1.245bn. Due to a public holiday for Corpus Christi there was one less working day than last year in May this year in many federal states. As a consequence, the turnover increase of 9.7% achieved in April was absorbed again in May. In May turnover generated on the German market declined by 7.9% to €873.2m. The downturn was even more significant in the export markets with a decrease of 8.6% to €372m. All product groups recorded a decline in turnover.
