Questions about cookies

1. What’s a cookie?
The cookie that you set when you call up the subscriber section of www.euwid-wood-products.com enables you to be recognised as one of our subscribers.
In this way our server can determine if the subscriber that has paid for this service is getting the right contents. When the website is revisited, this cookie helps to recognise you.
This also enables us to ensure that customers who have lodged their details in the “My Euwid” section and do not want to type in their user name and password, having activated an automatic user login, are given direct access to the desired areas.
Cookies are used, for example, to save the user’s personal settings so that they are available the next time the website is called up. A cookie is a pure text file that is sent from a web server to the browser.

2. Convenient for users
We have opted against a dongle or an elaborate PIN/TAN system as a protection mechanism because we want to help our subscribers remain as mobile as possible and enable all of our customers to obtain access to the appropriate websites without elaborate installation procedures.
Having said this, however, we hope you will understand that we cannot cater to everyone’s specific requirements. We are on the same wavelength as the leading banks and shop suppliers, though, to ensure that both your data and ours are secure.

3. Why is it so important for EUWID to see who they are communicating with?
We cannot offer our extensive editorial content without security measures. Protecting the documents and data enables us to continue to provide and further extend our services in the interests of our customers’ growing need for information.
Our intention is also to take into account the aspects of data avoidance and our customers’ security needs. For this reason the saved cookies are only used for controlling access to the fee-based areas. They are not used for any other purpose. We also draw attention to this in our General Terms and Conditions. (See https://www.euwid-wood-products.com/footer-part-2/terms-and-conditions.html)

4. How can I enable cookies in my browser?
Using Internet Explorer you can enable cookies under Extras → Internet options → Privacy by moving the slider to “Allow all cookies”.

With Firefox, you can enable cookies under Extras → Settings → Privacy → Allow cookies.
We will be glad to send you detailed instructions upon request for this cookie setting. Alternatively, contact your IT department for assistance.

5. What are the disadvantages of disabling cookies?
In this case you forfeit part of the services and therefore cannot save your login data, for example. The bookmark list cannot be displayed either. Deleting cookies or setting the browser to block cookies will entail restrictions in the use of the online services.
