Structurlam Products is expanding its activities in the USA and investing Can$90m in the construction of a cross-laminated timber plant in Conway, Arkansas. The plant is to be built on the premises of a former steel plant. Approximately 130 persons are to be employed at the plant and production is scheduled to commence by mid-2021.
According to CEO Hardy Wentzel, the decision was made in favour of Conway due to the adequate supply of southern yellow pine as well as favourable logistical connections. The availability of staff in the region was a further reason for the choice.
