Timber-construction firms’ sales up by 10.8%

German carpentry and timber-construction businesses generated roughly 10.8% higher sales revenue in May than in the same month of last year. According to Destatis, the federal statistics office, this reversed the slightly regressive development (-1.0%) registered in April. Sales revenues from timber construction had fallen by 5.7% in February. Revenue from sales increased in January (+1.2%) and in March (+10.0%). In the first five months of this year, they were 4.1% higher than a year earlier. The number of employees rose by 1.9% in the same period.
