Södra CLT works’ start-up not likely until mid-2022

The start-up of the second cross-laminated timber (CLT) plant of Södra at its Värö facility, originally planned for the end of 2021, will probably not take place until the middle of 2022. When the order for supplying the plant and machinery was placed with Ledinek Engineering in April 2020, notification had been given of a start-up at the end of 2021. Södra says that due to external factors, most notably the effects of the corona pandemic, the original schedule had already been adjusted in mid-2020. Delays in construction work as well as in plant deliveries and assembly were recognisable at an early stage owing to corona cases in Sweden and travel restrictions. The second CLT works at the facility is geared to an annual capacity of around 100,000 m³. Works 1 has been up and running since mid-2019 and has an annual capacity of roughly 40,000 m³.
