At the end of November, the Russian Segezha Group commissioned its new pellet mill on the site of the Siberian sawmill LKD 1 in Lesosibirsk. The plant, designed for a production capacity of 70,000 t/year, was built by the Russian Hekotek subsidiary Sorb as general contractor. The Italian plant manufacturer Baschild supplied a high-temperature dryer. The presses were supplied by the US plant manufacturer CPM Holdings. The investment volume amounted to 816.6m rubles (equivalent to around 10.8m €).
The pellet plant was included in the list of priority projects of Kray Krasnojarsk as part of the expansion of the wood industry site in Lesosibirsk. LDK 1 has logging licences totalling 2.9m m³ of round timber per year, of which only about one third is currently used. Of this, 1m m³ of coniferous logs are processed into 500,000 m³ of sawn timber per year.
