Pinnacle must move pellet handling to Prince Rupert

Owing to the collapse of a pellet silo of Fibreco Export Pinnacle Renewable Energy Group is moving its pellet-handling operations for its export business to the company’s own Westview terminal in Prince Rupert until further notice. According to a release published on 23 September, the move is in response to the business disruption at the Fibreco terminal, which is used mainly by Pinnacle. Structural failure of a pellet silo occurred at the depot on 11 September. It is currently unclear when Fibreco will be able to reopen the terminal with a storage capacity of approximately 45,000 t. As a result of the move, Pinnacle is anticipating additional costs in connection with demurrage and moving the pellet stocks from the Pinnacle works in southern British Columbia to Westview.
