Pfeifer starts CLT production in August at the earliest

According to plant manager Roland Ritter, the Pfeifer Group cross- laminated timber (CLT) plant currently under construction at the Schlitz/Hessen site is expected to go into operation in August. Due to the delivery times of machine manufacturers and a complete renewal and expansion of the water and wastewater network as well as the power supply, the commissioning planned by Pfeifer for May will be delayed by about three months. The converted and newly built storage, production and order picking halls have already been completed, the installation of the machinery has been running since November and, according to Ritter, is also well advanced.

In the first expansion phase, the CLT plant will have an annual capacity of around 50,000 m³, and around 55 new jobs will be created. By 2021, production is to be expanded to an annual capacity of 100,000 m³ CLT in full operation. According to Pfeifer, the investment sum for the plant is €25m.
