Pfeifer expands block production in Lauterbach

12.04.2019 −

Austrian Pfeifer Group on 8 April published details of the investment measures of around € 10m announced at Pfeifer Holz Lauterbach in August 2018. The majority of these investments will be used to expand pallet block production and residual wood drying. In addition to the twelve existing block presses, four further presses will be installed to increase the production capacity from the current 180,000 m³ to 250,000 m³ of pallet blocks per year. The expansion also requires the installation of further hammer mills, the increase of chip transport capacities and the drying of residual wood.

In addition to the existing belt dryers, a "Dryer One" low-temperature dryer from the Belgian manufacturer Technic One will therefore be installed at the site. In order to expand the heat supply to the site, an additional heat source will also be installed as part of a contracting model. The supply of residual wood required for the expansion of production is mainly ensured by the conversion of sawn timber production from a two-shift to a three-shift operation last year.
