Pellet industry launches first sales campaigns

19.03.2020 −

In the central European pellet industry, the first stock clearance sales and warehousing campaigns have been launched in commercial business in the last few days; considerably earlier than otherwise usual. There have not been any special offers in the retail business yet, however. Merchants and direct marketers say they will probably not begin until April.

As the fuel consumption for the present heating period 2019/2020 is currently expected to be in the region of 15-20 % lower than in a normal year due to the weather, retail customers’ existing pellet levels are going to last longer; a similar situation applies for commercial stocks. From what merchants and directly marketing manufacturers say, demand from the retail-customer markets and utilisation of silo-vehicle capacity were not always sufficient to maintain the outflow from the current production operations in January and February.
