PacBio to purchase all Skeena Sawmills pellets

Canadian pellet producer Pacific Bioenergy (PacBio) and Canadian Skeena Sawmills have agreed the conditions for a future long-term offtake agreement regarding the pellets produced by Skeena Sawmills at its location in Terrace (British Columbia).

According to a statement issued by PacBio on 04 February, the pellet plant is to be commissioned over the course of the first quarter. The pellet plant, which was constructed at a cost of Can$20m, has a capacity of some 96,000t/annum. The essential equipment components for the plant, which operates under the name Skeena Biofuels, have been supplied by Spanish equipment manufacturer, Prodesa Medioambiente. The supply of raw materials, consisting of wood chips and sawdust, will come from the adjacent sawmill which currently produces some 200m bdft lumber per annum.
