Official inauguration of Sokol CLT plant

Russian Segezha Group officially inaugurated its new cross-laminated timber (CLT) plant at the Sokol location in the Vologda Oblast on 25 February, in the presence of president and chairman of the board Mikhail Shamolin, governor of the Vologda Oblast Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Viktor Evtuchov, state secretary at the Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Production had started at the plant on a trial basis at the end of October. According to the company’s information, Segezha invested some RUB3bn (equivalent to approximately €43m) in the plant, which is designed for a production capacity of 50,000m³ CLT per annum and operates under the name Sokol CLT. The plant - which can produce CLT in lengths of up to 16m, widths of up to 3.5m and thicknesses of 6cm to 36cm - has created 50 jobs.

Ledinek Engineering supplied two newly developed Z-joint gluing presses, a Kontizink LH-S120 type horizontal finger-jointing line, a Multiplan 5V-S250 type planing line, an X-Cut S400 cross-cut saw and an X-Press type gluing press for the plant. Imeas supplied a Combi 2.6/360 type grinding machine working parallel to the grain direction and a CR-Top/360 type grinding machine working transverse to the grain direction. Furthermore, machines from SCM Group have been installed at the plant.
