Legal & General completes construction of CLT plant

13.11.2017 −

British Legal & General Homes Modular, part of the British Legal & General Group, had largely completed the construction of its production facilities by the end of October. The heart of the plant is a “TimberPress X 160” CLT pressing line, developed by German Minda, which can be used to produce elements of up to 6 m in width and up to 20 m in length. The plant has an annual capacity of 120,000 m³ in single-shift operation. The CLT is to be used for building house-construction modules for detached houses and apartment blocks in the 550,000 sqft production hall in future.

According to information from Legal & General Homes Modular, trials with the planned manufacturing process are to be carried out in the next few weeks. The company is working from the assumption of being able to start regular production at an initially low level during the course of the first half-year 2018 and deliver the first houses in the second quarter.
