German timber-construction businesses’ sales 27.5 % up

German timber-construction businesses and carpentry firms generated roughly 27.5 % more sales revenue in January than in the same period of last year. According to the sales figures published by Destatis, the federal statistics office, for the German building and civil engineering industry on 10 April, this was the highest growth registered in a January since 2011.

The regressive development recorded for December 2017 (-3.8 %) was thus able to be turned around. In building construction as in the building and civil engineering industry as a whole, sales revenues were also rose by double-figure percentages against the same month of last year at +26.5 % and +22,2 %, respectively.
