German pellet production grew by around 8%

In the first quarter, a volume of 802,000t of pellets was produced in Germany. Production was thus 8.2% higher than in the preceding year. According to the survey conducted by the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV) 98.6% of the total production volume constituted A1 products. 21.7% was supplied as bagged pellets. The export rate amounted to 14.3%. The proportion of industrial products, at 1.4%, was somewhat lower; the average for 2020 had been 2.6%. Concerning pellet production, sawmilling residues accounted for 87.5%; the industrial timber proportion (12.5%) remained at an above-average level due to the volume of damaged wood.
