EPAL: Pallet production increases in first half year

According to the latest figures published by the European Pallet Association (EPAL) the number of load carriers produced and repaired under an EPAL license in the first half increased by 7% vis à vis the comparative quarter of the preceding year to a total of some 61.0m pallets. Of this volume, some 46.6m pallets were newly produced and 14.1m load carriers repaired.

The organisation was able to expand its activities mainly in Asia. In this region, the volume of pallets produced or repaired under EPAL licenses in the first half year increased by 45% to 700,000 units vis à vis the comparative period of the preceding year. Currently 74 licenses have been issued in China, two in both Indonesia and India as well as one in South Korea. For the entire period of 2018, according to in-company information, the association also expects an ongoing increase in production and repair figures. In 2017 the number of pallets produced and repaired by EPAL license holders rose to 115.8m load carriers.
