EPAL pallet production increased by 5.2 %

The number of load carriers produced and repaired under the license of the European Pallet Association (EPAL) increased by a further 5.2% year-on-year to 121.8m units in 2018. According to EPAL, the production of new pallets increased by 6.3 % to 93.9m units, with 27.5m units repaired, the same level as in the previous year. EPAL recorded disproportionately high increases in mesh boxes, where production rose by around 30 % to 408,076 units.

After the growth rates achieved in 2016 (+4.4 %) and 2017 (+9.7 %), EPAL was able to close the third consecutive year with over 100m EPAL load carriers produced and repaired.

According to EPAL, the open exchange pool currently comprises around 500m pallets and around 20m mesh boxes worldwide.
